When a 25 year, very cynical IT veteran sat up and asked 'is that what I'm doing?' I knew we were onto a winner with Istvan. A unique ability to captivate the battle weary and explain the dynamic taking place within a team environment, makes the Hunting Territory a must have for any organisation that requires teamwork to successfully function.

Istvan Gorgenyi and his Hunting Territory Theory have been of enormous assistance to the coaching staff of the Socceroos in their quest to reach the finals of the World Cup 2006. Istvan's experience and insight into team dynamics proved to be remarkably to the point, and enabled the coaching staff to look at some issues about the team which often get lost when you are so close to a team. We would thoroughly recommend the use of this important analytical and planning tool for any team sport.

In my experience, people in top performing teams often feel "you have to fight for the right to fight," that is, convince people on your own team that you have a lot to offer. And then, "if you can only get past your own team, you can win the game." But in really successful groups, these feelings are minimized and each teammate, while maybe still looking for individual glory, subordinates that feeling towards the greater good because he or she has confidence that the rest of the team is doing the same thing; and that in the end, glory and recognition will be doled out satisfactorily. As Istvan points out, the coach or leader of these teams has a lot to do with controlling these inside fights by making the line between individual jurisdictions -- hunting territories -- very clear, getting team-wide agreement on this division of labor, and then enforcing it. I can vouch from personal experience that it works this way on winning Olympic teams, Presidential campaigns and administrations, Marine Corps units, University administrations and rock stars. Thus, I recommend The Hunting Territory to you with the highest enthusiasm.

The Hunting Territory process places “a mirror" in front of the team and the team members and challenges their assumptions and beliefs and provides a significant and meaningful diagnosis of “the status of their current team life”. It is extremely effective and efficient in assisting teams in becoming more productive and profitable. The Hunting Territory also provides a significant number of key development, learning and growth opportunities for the team on both a group and individual basis.

My support for Dr Istvan Gorgenyi's project is based upon the high level of his qualifications in general and the relevance of these qualifications to the area of applied social psychology in particular, a field in which Hungary has developed an internationally recognised reputation.

The model that Dr. Gorgenyi developed has its foundations in the field of applied social psychology in which he is so highly qualified. In my own work I have also used a variation of the generic model within the Master of Business Administration Degree at Monash University where its importance has been immediately recognised by MBA students. In other words Dr. Gorgenyi's work is based on a generic model which is recognised as being practically relevant across a number of applied areas.

Istvan Gorgenyi brings a set of unique personal attributes, professional competencies, qualifications, research and practical experience to his work. He provides another approach to what I consider to be the least effective of our sport sciences, i.e. applied psychology. I have been fascinated by the work he has developed in team dynamics. His model of "team life" provides practical insights in dealing with team development, conflict resolution and why teams work/fail.

Connecting sport and business is not a new concept. Today many practitioners in the world of business have identified components of the winning culture often found in the field of sport. Dr. Istvan Gorgenyi has taken this concept to new heights through his "Hunting Territory Theory". Following Istvan's workshop we were left not only questioning our role within the organization but more importantly we all gained a greater insight into how our behaviour impacts on other peoples ability to perform.

Istvan's workshop is highly recommended for any organization that is seeking to raise their bar to new levels. This program is innovative, self apprising and thought provoking. It does not immediately enable you to see connections it makes until you take a wider view then you appreciate its value. Once it has been achieved it will encourage organizations to view themselves with such different paradigm.

The Hunting Territory is a revolutionary theory and practical guide to team dynamics. It is an easily grasped tool that can be used to build, change and enhance the functioning of teams. Istvan has a rare combination of skills and experience: from family therapist to championship coach; from Gold Medal winner to corporate success consultant.

From his intense focus on group dynamics in elite sports teams he has discovered the basic elements of how groups with goals act and interact. He has seen into the structural nature of team interactions and has invaluable insights and methods for managing and coaching teams. Istvan uses very simple, visual and engaging metaphors from sports teams to demonstrate his theories and approaches. Participants understand his insights almost immediately and are successfully applying these insights to their own business teams in no time.

Istvan is a great communicator, a passionate advocate of the pleasure of building successful teams and a warm human being.

A couple of years ago I read a first draft of Istvan Gorgenyi's proposed book on team structure and dynamics, "The Hunting Territory". This is a very interesting material, which has not been discussed in any academic texts on team cohesion and dynamics.

I believe that the research techniques used by Istvan, and his refreshingly different approach to team life, team processes and conflicts, are immensely useful.
